Volunteering

Why volunteer?

There are many reasons why people choose to volunteer in schools. For some, it is a chance to give something back to the local community. For others, it is an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge.

There are a number of ways you can volunteer at Drew, such as:

  • Accompanying children on school trips
  • Reading with individual or small groups of children
  • Supporting children in the classroom
  • Helping at school events such as the Christmas Fair
  • Utilising a talent you may have, such as cooking

Once you have registered an interest, we will arrange a meeting with you.

Although we love having volunteers in school, we do take our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously. Therefore, you will be asked to read and agree to our volunteer contract, which outlines appropriate interaction with the children.

If you become a volunteer on a regular basis, we will ask you to agree to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS formerly CRB) check.

All that’s left for us to say is that we look forward to hearing from you.

If you are willing to volunteer at Drew, please express your interest by emailing us at info@drew.newham.sch.uk
